Second Day:

Investment Planning & Strategy with specific recommendations
The next morning begins with the investment asset allocation model as a starting point. A strong emphasis is placed on the use of index funds. Once agreement is reached, implementation is discussed and carried out.

Tax Planning
We will conduct tax planning utilizing the best possible use of existing tax laws. Review of the past year's return is discussed and projected tax for current year is calculated. You'll also learn how to identify and use tax-reducing opportunities in your daily life.

Estate Planning
Finally, you are guided through the process of deciding how you and your loved ones will be cared for and how assets are to be divided. The focus is on reducing estate taxes and probate costs while ensuring that your wishes will be carried out. If you don't have a current will or it needs to be updated, we may advise you to see an attorney to bring it up to date. With Judi's help, you'll complete your Final Directives and receive the booklet, Five Wishes.

Follow Up

You'll be invited to prepare an Ethical Will. Appointments are made for tax preparation, annual investment review and as needed for additional financial concerns.

It is a comprehensive, holistic approach to financial planning that allows you to focus deeply on key issues related to all aspects of their quality of life.

Following is an overview of the areas you may examine during your visit to The Retreat House:

First Day:

Pre-work includes watching the film, My Life, writing a Money Autobiography, completing the Financial Satisfaction Assessment and submitting all financial documents and reports.

Cash flow analysis and record keeping
As part of your visit to The Retreat House, you may receive the Homefile Financial Planning Organizer Kit, which is designed to maximize tax savings, It's Deductible workbook, which helps you accurately value your donations in compliance with IRS guidelines and maximize your tax savings, Judi's book, 52 Simple Ways to Manage your Money and another book on financial planning You'll also engage in exercises that explore habits, patterns and mindsets around money.

Insurance Review
You will have the opportunity to review and analyze your insurance needs with Judi to ensure adequate protection for life, disability, health, property and casualty and long-term care. This may be the only time you will review your insurance needs with someone who doesn't sell insurance.

Retirement and Transition Planning
You'll engage in Scenario Planning to explore various spending and investment options during a variety of timelines. These are used to calculate projected retirement income needed to sustain your desired lifestyle during transitions or retirement.

Investment Policy Statement
At this stage you will be asked to develop an Investment Policy Statement which reflects your investment expectations and risk/reward comfort level. Your investment philosophy will be explored in detail.

Based on the information provided Judi will spend the evening designing an asset allocation model with specific recommendations to achieve the appropriate level of risk and diversification to match these expectations.


Meal and Evening Breaks:

You are free to reflect while walking on the beach or relaxing at The Retreat House before tackling your homework assignments for the next day.
